Fresh Water Fishing: The “Doughnut Hole” Strategy
For the most consistent results:
Do not fish the MagnaBait as if it were the center of a target. Fish it as if you were eating a doughnut, from around the edges. Here’s why: Fish can’t ignore the MagnaBait any more than you could ignore a sudden loud unexpected fireworks display. At first you’re startled and move away, then you want to be close enough to indulge your excitement and sense of curiosity. Conversely, you also want to stay far enough away to avoid being burned. Like people, the closer fish are to the center of the action, the more hyper-excited they are likely to become.
Now let’s extend the metaphor. Imagine that you are a smaller fish. The gathering crowd of spectators contains larger, vicious, hidden individuals who will kill you and eat you if they get a chance. If you are one of those larger fish, you realize that the distraction at the center of the “doughnut” has caused many smaller fish to let their guard down. This situation makes them far more vulnerable to your attack. You are torn between watching the “fireworks” and looking for an easy meal.
Unless fresh water fish have had a very long time to get used to the MagnaBait, the radius directly around and adjacent to the device will usually be vacant of fish. Remember this is somewhat like the area directly adjacent to a fireworks display or a bonfire. The spectators, though their attention is captured by the sound and light, will tend to find their own comfort zone.
Obviously underwater structures and weeds will play a big role on where or how closely fish will choose to position themselves near the MagnaBait. Smaller fish use it for protection from predators and big fish use it to hide in ambush. Obviously your chances of catching fish improve greatly if you position your fishing lure or bait close to where the fish may be hiding.
Salt Water Fishing: The Bull’s Eye Strategy
Warning: Never use the MagnaBait while wading or near swimmers in shark habitat. In most salt water environments the area is much larger. So are many of the fish, most of which are also much more aggressive. Many can cover great distances and move at high speeds.
It will probably be appropriate to begin with the “doughnut hole” strategy, then in a short time begin phasing your bait or lure ever closer to the MagnaBait as if it were the bull’s eye of a target.
