The State of Florida Fish and Wildlife and the U.S. government in the form of NASA engineers actually assisted our efforts to create the Magnabait. Previous questions address its environmental benefits, damage control benefits, tourism, and economic stimulus benefits so we won't repeat those here.  However, there are a few other areas worth mentioning that are not only economically beneficial but sociologically as well.

1.    Extra entry level jobs for kids when school is not in session.

2.    Some additional full-time year-round jobs as well.

3.    Fishing pleasantly occupies people that might otherwise get bored, dissatisfied, or cause trouble.

4.    Fishing is affordable in some way at all levels. It is an avenue where parents and kids can actually communicate and function together. Fishing is probably the lowest cost out-of-home entertainment there is.
