Doughnut Hole Casting Strategy

Radius from Boat

Begin by casting your lure inward from either outside edge of the “doughnut Hole”, then lastly towards the center.

A. Fresh Water Fishing: The “Doughnut Hole” Strategy
For the most consistent results:
Do not begin to fish the Magnabait™ as if it were the center of a target. Fish it as if you were eating a doughnut, from around the edges. Here’s why: Fish can’t ignore the Magnabait™ any more than you could ignore a sudden loud unexpected fireworks display. At first you’re startled and move away, then you want to be close enough to indulge your excitement and sense of curiosity. Conversely, you also want to stay far enough away to avoid being burned. Like people, the closer fish are to the center of the action, the more hyper-excited they are likely to become.

Now let’s extend the metaphor. Imagine that you are a smaller fish. The gathering crowd of spectators contains larger, vicious, hidden individuals who will kill you and eat you if they get a chance. If you are one of those larger fish, you realize that the distraction at the center of the “doughnut” has caused many smaller fish to let their guard down. This situation makes them far more vulnerable to your attack. They are torn between watching the “fireworks” and looking for an easy meal. Hopefully that “easy meal” will be your bait or lure.

Unless fresh water fish have had a long time to get used to the Magnabait™, the radius directly around and adjacent to the device will usually be vacant of fish. We call that area “The Doughnut Hole”. Remember this is somewhat like the area directly adjacent to a fireworks display or a bonfire. The spectators, though their attention is captured by the sound and light, will tend to find their own comfort zone.

Obviously underwater structures, weeds, and drop offs or channels will play a big role on where or how closely fish will choose to position themselves near the Magnabait™. Smaller fish use them for protection from predators and big fish use them to hide in ambush. Obviously your chances of catching fish improve greatly if you position your Magnabait™, fishing lure, or bait closer to where the fish may be hiding.

B. Salt Water Fishing: The Bull's Eye Strategy

Warning: Never use the Magnabait™ while wading or near swimmers in shark habitat! In most salt water environments the fishing area is much larger than in freshwater. So are many of the fish, most of which are also much more aggressive. Many can cover great distances and move at high speeds.
It will usually be appropriate to begin with the “doughnut hole” strategy, then in a short time begin passing your bait or lure ever closer to the Magnabait™ as if it were the bull’s eye of a target. This is because saltwater fish are usually bolder and more aggressive. Most will ignore the doughnut hole and proceed to inspect the Magnabait™. Some will even nudge it with their snout or mouth.

Turn on the MagnaBait and place it in the area where you believe fish are nearby. Then begin to use the stragegies described here.
